Our location at the northern end of the Appalachian Mountain Range has blessed us. Plaster Rock has breath taking scenery, clear rivers and lakes, and plenty of wildlife.  Regardless of the season, Plaster Rock has a lot to offer.


Spring and Summer In the District of Tobique Valley

Spring and summer offer a variety of hunting and fishing opportunities. The spring black bear hunt and fishing for native brook trout or Atlantic salmon are most popular. (Note: hunting and fishing are regulated by the Government). Local professional guides and outfitters offer services to visitors. Fraser Papers’s Blue Ribbon Lakes program allows fishing within their properties and land holdings.


For those who like to camp, the Plaster Rock Tourist Park offers a modern campground. You will enjoy a wilderness setting right in the middle of town.


Those interested in water related activities are right at home on the Tobique River. Our river offers challenging to leisurely opportunities for canoeing and kayaking enthusiasts. Equipment rentals are available throughout the area.

The Plaster Rock Golf Club is often referred to as “New Brunswick’s Finest Nine”. It offers cart and club rentals and reasonable green fees. Cycling and hiking are other activities enjoyed around the area.


Fall and Winter in the District of Tobique Valley

Fall brings with it the beautiful foliage and hunting seasons. Fall hunting includes upland game birds, migratory birds, deer, moose and black bear. Many trophies have come out of the Tobique over the years. And, there are more out there! Local hotels, motels, campgrounds and outfitters are ready to meet the needs of visiting hunters.


Winter on the Tobique is a celebration of ice and snow. The famous World Pond Hockey Championships, held every February, highlight our winter season. Maritime Snowmobile Drag Racing and miles of groomed NBSF trails are available for snowmobilers. Outfitters, hotels, motels, and restaurants are ready to meet the needs of any travelers.


Other popular winter activities include snowshoeing, sliding (tube) and cross-country skiing. Downhill skiing opportunities exist nearby.

World Pond Hockey Championships
The World Pond Hockey Championships take place every February. During this popular event Plaster Rock plays host to teams from all over the world. While playing pond hockey is at the center of this event, you’ll also find craft fairs, live music, and everything in between.
